VaultJot is a note-taking app for iPhone and Apple Watch. The provider responsible for it is named in the imprint.

In short

We run no server for the app and we don't receive your notes. VaultJot contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party crash reporting. You don't need an account with us. Your notes are stored in your own folder and, on the way from your Watch to your iPhone, in your own iCloud account.

Where your notes live

In the folder you choose, for example your Obsidian vault. The provider of that folder (such as iCloud Drive) stores and syncs the files under its own terms.
In VaultJot's own iCloud space if you haven't connected a folder, or on your device if iCloud isn't available.

How Watch notes reach your iPhone

When you save a note on Apple Watch, it is first stored on the Watch until it has been sent. It then normally travels through the private CloudKit database in your own iCloud account, which Apple operates. We have no access to this database.

What is transferred: the note's title and text, its topic tag and creation time, and technical status fields. Your iPhone also adds the path of the saved file, which contains the note's title.
How long it stays there: the iPhone app deletes a record about seven days after the note has been written to your folder. Records that haven't been processed yet stay until they have. If you delete the iPhone app first, the remaining records stay in your iCloud account because nothing runs to remove them.
Without iCloud: if CloudKit can't be used, for example because you aren't signed in to iCloud, notes are sent directly between Watch and iPhone using Apple's Watch Connectivity.

VaultJot also receives silent push notifications through Apple's push service when new records arrive. They don't show anything on screen and we don't receive them. Your topics and Watch settings are sent between iPhone and Watch using Watch Connectivity.

Dictation

VaultJot doesn't record, store or receive audio. On Apple Watch and in the iPhone keyboard, dictation is provided by Apple's system dictation, and VaultJot only receives the resulting text. How Apple processes dictation depends on your device, language and settings, and is governed by Apple's privacy terms.

Permissions

Files and iCloud: to write notes into the folder you selected and to use your iCloud account as described above.
Background updates: to process notes from your Watch when iOS wakes the app.

VaultJot doesn't access your microphone, photos or camera itself.

Diagnostic log on your device

VaultJot keeps a local log of up to 200 sync events on each device to help find sync problems. Entries can contain timestamps, shortened note IDs, topic names, file names, error messages and short excerpts of note titles and dictated text. The log is not sent anywhere automatically. It only leaves your device if you open the diagnostics and share it yourself. Deleting the app removes it.

Analytics and crash reports

VaultJot itself collects no analytics. Apple may provide developers with crash reports and usage statistics if you have chosen to share them with app developers in your device settings. If you install VaultJot through TestFlight, Apple may also provide crash reports and any feedback you submit.

This website

This website is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes technical connection data, such as your IP address, in order to deliver the pages. We don't set cookies and use no analytics, external scripts or external fonts. In the app, the help button opens this website.

Email

If you email us, we use your address and message to reply. Mail to hello@vaultjot.app is forwarded through Cloudflare Email Routing to the mailbox we use for support.

VaultJot ist eine Notiz-App für iPhone und Apple Watch. Der verantwortliche Anbieter ist im Impressum genannt.

Kurzfassung

Wir betreiben für die App keinen Server und erhalten deine Notizen nicht. VaultJot enthält keine Analyse-Tools, keine Werbung, kein Tracking und keine Crash-Dienste Dritter. Du brauchst kein Konto bei uns. Deine Notizen liegen in deinem eigenen Ordner und, auf dem Weg von der Watch zum iPhone, in deinem eigenen iCloud-Konto.

Wo deine Notizen liegen

In dem von dir gewählten Ordner, zum Beispiel deinem Obsidian-Vault. Der Anbieter dieses Ordners (etwa iCloud Drive) speichert und synchronisiert die Dateien nach seinen eigenen Bedingungen.
Im App-eigenen iCloud-Bereich, wenn du keinen Ordner verbunden hast, oder auf deinem Gerät, wenn iCloud nicht verfügbar ist.

Wie Watch-Notizen zum iPhone kommen

Wenn du auf der Apple Watch eine Notiz speicherst, bleibt sie zunächst auf der Watch, bis sie gesendet wurde. Danach läuft sie im Normalfall über die private CloudKit-Datenbank in deinem eigenen iCloud-Konto, die Apple betreibt. Wir haben keinen Zugriff auf diese Datenbank.

Was übertragen wird: Titel und Text der Notiz, ihr Topic-Tag und Erstellungszeitpunkt sowie technische Statusfelder. Das iPhone ergänzt den Pfad der gespeicherten Datei, der den Notiztitel enthält.
Wie lange es dort bleibt: Die iPhone-App löscht einen Eintrag etwa sieben Tage, nachdem die Notiz in deinen Ordner geschrieben wurde. Noch nicht verarbeitete Einträge bleiben, bis sie verarbeitet sind. Löschst du die iPhone-App vorher, bleiben die restlichen Einträge in deinem iCloud-Konto, weil nichts mehr läuft, das sie entfernt.
Ohne iCloud: Wenn CloudKit nicht genutzt werden kann, etwa weil du nicht bei iCloud angemeldet bist, werden Notizen direkt zwischen Watch und iPhone über Apples Watch Connectivity gesendet.

VaultJot erhält über Apples Push-Dienst außerdem stille Benachrichtigungen, wenn neue Einträge ankommen. Sie zeigen nichts auf dem Bildschirm an, und wir erhalten sie nicht. Deine Topics und Watch-Einstellungen werden über Watch Connectivity zwischen iPhone und Watch übertragen.

Diktat

VaultJot nimmt keine Audiodaten auf, speichert keine und erhält keine. Auf der Apple Watch und in der iPhone-Tastatur stammt das Diktat von Apples System-Diktierfunktion, und VaultJot erhält nur den fertigen Text. Wie Apple das Diktat verarbeitet, hängt von Gerät, Sprache und Einstellungen ab und richtet sich nach Apples Datenschutzbedingungen.

Berechtigungen

Dateien und iCloud: um Notizen in den von dir gewählten Ordner zu schreiben und dein iCloud-Konto wie oben beschrieben zu nutzen.
Hintergrund-Aktualisierung: um Notizen von der Watch zu verarbeiten, wenn iOS die App aufweckt.

VaultJot greift nicht selbst auf Mikrofon, Fotos oder Kamera zu.

Diagnose-Protokoll auf deinem Gerät

VaultJot führt auf jedem Gerät ein lokales Protokoll mit bis zu 200 Sync-Ereignissen, um Sync-Probleme zu finden. Einträge können Zeitstempel, gekürzte Notiz-IDs, Topic-Namen, Dateinamen, Fehlermeldungen und kurze Auszüge aus Notiztiteln und diktiertem Text enthalten. Das Protokoll wird nicht automatisch versendet. Es verlässt dein Gerät nur, wenn du die Diagnose öffnest und es selbst teilst. Beim Löschen der App wird es entfernt.

Analyse und Absturzberichte

VaultJot selbst erhebt keine Analysedaten. Apple stellt Entwicklern möglicherweise Absturzberichte und Nutzungsstatistiken bereit, wenn du das Teilen mit App-Entwicklern in den Geräteeinstellungen aktiviert hast. Wenn du VaultJot über TestFlight installierst, stellt Apple möglicherweise auch Absturzberichte und von dir eingereichtes Feedback bereit.

Diese Website ist eine statische Seite, die auf Cloudflare Pages gehostet wird. Cloudflare verarbeitet technische Verbindungsdaten wie deine IP-Adresse, um die Seiten auszuliefern. Wir setzen keine Cookies und nutzen keine Analyse-Tools, externen Skripte oder externen Schriften. In der App öffnet die Hilfe-Schaltfläche diese Website.
